What is the meaning of the name Mwabini?

Long ago, and even now, people used latrines as loos. Now, with such deep holes dug around, some times accidents happened and somehow people ended up at the bottom of these pits.  When this happened, someone had to go down there and save the fallen one. The process of doing this is called ‘Ohuabina’ and the man who did this important job was called ‘Omwabini’. Mwabini, therefore, means a savior.

Punch Line

Grow yourself by standing on other people's shoulders

Standing on another person’s shoulder does not mean trumping them down as you climb up. Rather, a person who stands on anothers shoulder, sees further and reaches higher. We need to build on what was left for us by those who came before us, or walked in front of us.

Meet My First Mentor

My very first mentor was my Dad. My siblings and I are lucky to have one who held us by our righ hand and showed us the way to follow. However, as I grew up I figured probably most boys learn a lot from their dads as well.

The mentor I particularly loved was ‘Uncle’ Steve. He was not my real uncle, but a good friend to dads and his story is one that always sticks with me. He was my mentor because I saw him work hard and grow out of it. In just 15 years, the change he had brought was tremendous. This was a case of how hard work pays.

I do miss Uncle Steve, but what he left behind for me, and my siblings, to learn from was tremendous. It gave us direction…
